ACET Slovakia was founded in 1996, based in the national capital, Bratislava. The main focus is on educating high school students about sex, AIDS and relationships. In 2002 the 25 trained educators between them reached over 20,000 students.

Recently the Slovak Ministry of Education incorporated sex education into both the elementary and high school curricula. The Methodical Centre was given the task of preparing material and providing training for teachers. At the end of 1998 ACET was asked to co-operate with them in this work. In February 1999 the first training session for Ethics teachers was held in Bratislava. Starting in September. ACET has since held presentations for all Ethics teachers in every district of Slovakia.

In 1997 a branch of ACET Slovakia was opened in the city of Nove Zamky, in the south-west of the country, where unemployment is around 20% and there is much fincancial hardship. Several volunteer educators have been trained, who between them conducted 163 lessons for about 5000 high school students in the city.

Nove Zamky is a city that has become a crossroads for drug dealers, with a growing youth crime problem and the highest suicide rate in the country outside the capital. Concerned for the well-being of the teenage population, ACET held a Week of AIDS and Drug Prevention in June 1998. Beginning with a benefit concert that drew 450 people, ACET conducted morning lectures for 400-500 students, followed by evening discussions on the day's topic. The discussion on drugs drew a large crowd, with many of the city's drug addicts attending. A concert on the final day drew a crowd of about 1000 students.
