ACET exists as a Christian response to the HIV and AIDS pandemic. As part of our calling to care for the poor, vulnerable and marginalised.
ACET programmes work with those infected and affected by HIV and AIDS without any discrimination on the basis of race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or any other factor. Each programme is run to high standards, adapted to cultural and local needs, with shared vision and values: Our vision is to reduce the impact of AIDS - to make AIDS history. We aim to provide: * Compassionate, unconditional care for all who are affected by HIV, regardless of how they come to be so, fighting stigma and discrimination and encouraging acceptance of those with HIV. * Professional, life-saving education: encouraging long-term healthy lifestyle choices, seeking to give young people confidence to resist peer pressure and to find their own way, with messages that are clear and adapted to each audience. * Effective community based training with a holistic, culturally sensitive approach to personal and community responses to HIV and AIDS, strongly encouraging indigenous leadership, working closely with churches and other faith-based organisations. Our Christian faith is central to what we do. Our vision is to mobilise the local church to take responsibility for those in their communities either infected with HIV, at risk of the disease, or living with the consequences of HIV or AIDS. We work with the following values: We are compassionate. We seek to respond to need wherever it is found. We are entrepreneurial. We encourage our teams to find new and innovative ways to tackle the problems that they face. We are decentralised. The ACET International Alliance is a group of independent organisations, each based in their own country and sharing a common aim and purpose. ACET UK exists merely to raise funds and provide technical support for the Alliance. We are relational. HIV will be beaten by inspired people and we invest in supporting and developing those people We are empowering. The key to HIV responses is to empower people within local communities to take action. Almost all leaders of ACET programmes are local people, empowered to deliver effective programmes in a culturally appropriate way. We are focused. ACET is a single issue organisation. We exist to beat HIV and AIDS and when that is achieved, as we firmly believe it will be, we will close down. Learn more about where ACET works |
