Prayer Bulletin June 2009

Welcome to the latest prayer bulletin from ACET.

In this bulletin I am asking you for specific prayer for four areas of our ministry:

Please lift before God our work in India through Nireekshana ACET India, led by Dr’s Sujai and Lavanya Suneetha.  Pray particularly for their work with the children of the HIV and AIDS pandemic as the team in Hyderabad and satellite clinics offer treatment, counselling, friendship and love to families who come to them ill, frightened and alone.

Continue to remember the ACET Nigeria team.   Please pray specifically for their ongoing programme of training for pastors in Plateau state.  Many Nigerian church leaders know little about HIV and AIDS and often feel ill equipped to deal with HIV positive people in their congregations.  Please pray that this training will offer church leaders the information and support they need to reach out in love and compassion to their congregations and communities where people are infected and affected by HIV and AIDS.

Please pray for the work of Groundswell in Southampton.  The HIV positive people with whom they come into contact often feel too scared to reveal their status to their family, community or church for fear of misunderstanding or rejection.  Pray for the workers at Groundswell as they come alongside vulnerable individuals, that they would be able to quickly build relationships of trust with those who they meet.

Please ask God to continue to bless all those local Christians who volunteer with ACET as lecturers and trainers.  This month we are asking you particularly to focus on those who volunteer in schools and churches for ACET Ukraine, where our ‘Facts for Life’ lectures and seminars on HIV prevention, sex and relationships are reaching many thousands of young people every year.  Please ask for inspiration as they communicate and safety as they travel.

Please also give thanks for so many answers to prayer including:

  • Securing paperwork in Russia far faster and more smoothly than anyone believed possible, allowing staff to continue their work.
  • New funding for ACET Jersey, allowing the recruitment of another member of the team for their care work with HIV positive people on the island.
  • The provision of a vehicle in Zimbabwe meaning the school breakfast programme could recommence and transport be offered to get patients to hospital.
  • Recent peace in the DR Congo, allowing our work in Goma to grow again.

If you have messages of encouragement or assurances of prayer for any of these people or situations, or if you would like to join our regular email prayer bulletin please contact us

Thank you for praying!
