Prayer bulletin December 2008

Many of you will recall the recent fighting in Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.  We asked for prayers and messages of encouragement for our team in the region and thank you to those of you who committed to pray and sent messages, which we passed on.  We received the message of thanks below, from our team, which I would like to share with you.

Dear Brethren

We are deeply encouraged by your prayers and support. We are seeing the miracles God is doing daily. The ACET team in Goma have not given up and continue their work. We trust God for a breakthrough.

Thank you for your prayer and encouragement!

Encouraged in turn by this, can I ask you now to pray:

For our ACET Russia trainer pastor Evgenyi Levandovskyi with his wife Elena who had a serious car accident last Sunday.  Elena is particularly badly injured and is currently in intensive care.  Please pray for healing for them and comfort for their two sons aged 12 and 7.

For the people of Zimbabwe, particularly the work of ACET Zimbabwe and the Matilda Project.  With news of cholera in the capital, Harare, and the almost total breakdown of ‘normal life’ in the country, the work with the poorest and most marginalised has never been more difficult or more vital.  Please pray for Godfrey Mhlanga, the leader of ACET’s work there, for God’s wisdom in using the resources he has wisely as ACET reaches out to thousands of orphans and the housebound infected or affected by AIDS.

For Paul Mershak and the team of ACET Nigeria, based in Jos, for personal safety during the current unrest in the city.  Pray that they will be able to continue and grow their work in a time of violence and political uncertainty

If you have messages of encouragement or assurances of prayer for any of these people or situations, please contact us and we will pass them on.

Thank you for praying!
