ACET Ukraine, led by Anatoliy Evdoschyk, offers education for HIV prevention through the 'Facts for Life' programme in this vast country.
Through 400 ACET volunteers working with churches and local education authorities, 160,000 secondary age pupils hear sex and relationship education each year, helping them to make wise and safe choices in a society in which many of the old certainties are breaking down.
My name is Anastasia Vyacheslavovna Lysenko. I live in Ukraine,in Zhytomir. I study at the local college, in 9th form. Once the lecturer came to our class from All Ukrainian organization ACET. She gave us two unforgettable lectures. They touched very topical problems nowadays. The first lecture was “When your life has started”. It was devoted to the popularity of abortion in the whole world and in our country particularly. It really changed my attitude to life and to the children as well. Many people nowadays even don’t think about the consequences of their actions. They just live entertaining themselves and even don’t imagine that every decision in their life can change the life itself.
The second lecture was called “Sex and relationships”. As for this very lecture, I must admit that it really changed people’s life. Because it opens youth’s eyes and shows the reality. I may also say that these lectures are indeed very useful and important. I would be glad if there were fewer broken hearts and lives. Our youth is our future and future should be bright and happy.
Volunteers have also started to offer palliative care to patients at a hospital at Odessa, where many HIV positive people are being treated.
