ACET in Europe

students in choose life seminar 06 08

ACET reaches hundreds of thousands of young people every year with life-saving health messages, across a wide region from Russia to Kazakhtstan, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Ireland and the UK.

Europe has been relatively unaffected by the spread of HIV and AIDS so far.  However, rates are rising significantly in many countries such as Ukraine, spread by rapidly changing life styles and drug abuse. ACET is active in 8 countries, including the United Kingdom, working in partnership with the European Union, and as part of national government programmes.

HIV prevention is the priority, based on the importance of long term relationships, education about risks of illegal drug use, and about making healthy life-style choices. ACET in Europe also has teams providing home support for drug users with HIV and their families, for African women with HIV and their children.
