Rapid change and new outside influences have meant many societies, particularly the younger generation, have lost touch with traditional certainties and values that influenced their parents. For many, this has resulted in the breakdown of traditional moral values and countries throughout Eastern Europe and and Africa are seeing a rapid increase in the spread of sexually transmitted diseases and increasing numbers of teenage pregnancies and levels of drug addiction. Hard on the heels of this comes a growing problem of HIV and AIDS.
Through our Facts for Life programme ACET is involved in bringing sex and relationship education, based on Christian values, to over 1 million young people most at risk.
In schools, prisons, colleges and Sunday Schools, ACET volunteers are delivering relevant, practical and sensitive training that enables young people to make right and safe choices for their future.
My name is Puruch Julia Mychailivna, from ACET Ukraine. I have been touched by the opportunity to influence young people and to teach them the principles and values which I had chosen for myself.
